about deborah monninger jungian analyst

Welcome

My interest in C.G. Jung began in the mid-1980’s and I have studied and trained in Jungian work since that time. I view my work as a Jungian analyst as a vocation which derives from the Latin vocare, “to call”.

I am keenly interested in animal dreams, symbolism, and experiences. Our connection with animals and nature has been severely damaged in our culture. Animals often show up in dreams and it important to give them the space and respect they deserve.

I live in Tempe, Arizona with my three dogs, two cats, demanding hummingbirds and my beloved rose garden. I garden without pesticides, inviting birds, butterflies and other creatures into my space. I welcome you there as well.

Approaches

Jungian analysis:

Based on the work of C.G. Jung, Jungian analysis is a rich process of accessing, experiencing, and integrating unconscious material into awareness. I utilize dreams, active imagination, artwork, and other products of the unconscious, as well as the wisdom of the body, as a compass which communicates obstacles in your path to wholeness and healing. Jungian analysis can help with problem-solving as well as assisting us in the process of individuation, or finding our unique, individual self.

Other approaches:

I work from a trauma-informed perspective and utilize several approaches in my work. To help with anxiety, depression, general feelings of “stuck-ness”, and trauma, I use some body-focused approaches. I am informed primarily by Somatic Experiencing and Internal Relationship Focusing (a somatically-based parts work). These gentle somatic approaches can help us feel more connected to ourselves, increasing feelings of clarity and helping us move forward in areas of our lives that feel stuck in inner conflict. I also utilize some cognitive behavior techniques, sandplay, artwork, griefwork, and other modalities.
